Tivat airport: photos, video, how it works, and how to get there - first-hand experience

We arrived in Tivat from Belgrade. Although the airport is international, it's very small and can feel quite cramped. It likely wouldn't be able to handle two flights at the same time comfortably, as there simply isn't enough space in the terminal waiting areas.
As the plane approaches for landing, you can see mountains on both sides.
Given its size, Tivat Airport has neither jet bridges nor shuttle buses to transport passengers between the aircraft and the terminal. Instead, everyone simply walks together across the airport apron.
As soon as you enter the "terminal", you arrive at passport control, where you're greeted by slightly sleepy-looking border officers.
Next comes a tiny baggage claim area. And that's it - the terminal is over. :)
There's also a notice in the airport about bringing cash into the country. If you're carrying more than €10000, you must declare it. Otherwise, the entire amount may be confiscated. According to reports online, this has happened to quite a few travelers.
The worst thing about Tivat Airport is the complete lack of public transportation. It's honestly hard to believe. The only practical way to get to or from the airport is by taxi, which typically costs around €50-55 each way.

For our arrival, we booked an airport transfer through KiwiTaxi, and paid €50 to get to Budva. For the return trip, we arranged a transfer directly with our hotel for the same price.

When we flew out of Tivat, our driver dropped us off in one of the parking lots, and this was the walk to the terminal. Complete with old metal railings that look like they've been there since the Yugoslav era.
Tivat International Airport doesn't operate at night. Seriously. Once the last flight is gone, the airport is literally locked up, and everyone goes home.

In winter, there are only a couple of flights a day from Belgrade. Almost all of the airport's passenger traffic comes during the summer season.
If your flight isn't leaving anytime soon, there's a small park outside the terminal with a few benches where you can sit and wait.
Once you enter the departures terminal, you're immediately at the check-in counters. In this photo, I'm standing right in front of them - the entrance doors are literally just behind me.
The waiting area before the "gates" - if you can even call them gates - is just a room with doors leading directly onto the airport apron. Before long, there weren't even enough seats for all the passengers.
Even here, the Montenegrin staff couldn't resist making things a little chaotic. The screen next to the "gate" showed our flight, but boarding had actually been moved to a different gate. There were no announcements or anything. 😂 Moral of the story: stay sharp!
